Seltzer: 'Mets just flat out better team than Phillies right now'
The Phillies are facing elimination trailing their NLDS series 2-1 against the New York Mets, a team James Seltzer says is just "flat out better" than Philadelphia right now.
"They're not as good as we thought they were," Seltzer said of the Phillies at the beginning of Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show. "The Mets have been a better team for [fourth months] and we came into this thing deluding ourselves thinking we were going to get the team we saw the beginning at the season, who we only saw flashes of since then. The Mets are better. Baseball is weird, we've seen things change. The Phillies were better than the Diamondbacks through Game 2 [of the NLCS] last year. Things can change, but right now the Mets are just flat out a better baseball team."
Since June 1st, the Mets are an MLB best 65-40 while the Phillies are 55-49 (10th best).
Ranger Suarez is expected to get the ball for the Phillies tonight, but fans and media have been debating the idea of starting Zack Wheeler on short rest in a do-or-die game instead.
"Is it crazy talk to go to Zack Wheeler or not?" Joe DeCamara asked. "I get the argument for, I get the argument against. I am not saying I arrived at the decision to go Zack Wheeler easily, I didn't. And I didn't expect to get here, I really didn't...Just asking myself, who do I trust more and the answer is I trust [Zack Wheeler]."
