"What did you see on that pitch that allowed you to be the guy who was mobbed on the field there?"
Castellanos: "Four-seam fastball."
Briscoe: "And how did it work for you?"
Castellanos: "I mean, you saw the game, right? You see the highlight?"
This was just the beginning of a very awkward postgame exchange, following Castellanos' walk-off RBI single lifting the Phillies over the Braves 3-2 in 11 innings Sunday night to take three of four from Atlanta in the biggest series of the season to date.
While the follow-up question was downright ridiculous, I imagine most outside of Philly found him to be a bit pompous and rude. Back home, this is what so many
Phillies fans have come to love and appreciate from the team's most consistent hitter who is simply one of a kind.
Reporter: "How rewarding is it you have two 0-2 counts starting both of those at-bats and kind of being able to come through?"
Castellanos: "It makes me want to take, so I have two strikes more often."
Hitting .277 (84 hits) with 12 home runs and 52 RBI since the calendar rolled into June, Castellanos has carried this expensive lineup that features extreme highs and lows.
As someone who has been quick to knock the right fielder in the past, the praise needs to be just as loud.
