Thomson 'tinkering' with lineup, says if Turner leads off Harper will bat 2nd

Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson confirms the organization is considering changing up the lineup and moving Kyle Schwarber out of the lead off spot, but he has not yet made a decision.

"We will today," Thomson said jokingly when asked on Thursday's 94WIP Morning Show live from Clearwater if Trea Turner will lead off.

"Well, we're still tinkering with it," he continued. "I don't know where we're going to end up. One of the thoughts behind leading Trea off is that maybe it changes his approach a little bit and he thinks about getting on base a little bit more. Because he's going to hit 20, 25 home runs just falling out of bed. The other part of it is, if you have Schwarber behind Harp, does that help Harp out a bit? But at the same time I don't want to over think it. We've had a lot of success with the way we've done it in the last couple of years. Spring Training is a good time to just try different things and see how things shake out."

On Wednesday's 94WIP Afternoon Show in Clearwater, Turner admitted he is excited about the idea of potentially leading off.

Thomson also spoke about Alec Bohm's mindset entering the season, calling it "tremendous," the possibility of 21-year-old starter Andrew Painter joining the rotation at some point in July, and many more topics on the 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie.
