"The Philadelphia Phillies have interest in Blake Snell, but only on a one-year or short-term contract," according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
"Snell is willing to do one of those Bellinger-type deals, short-term deal with opt outs," Jon Heyman reported over the weekend.
Joe Giglio and Hugh Douglas reacted to the news that Snell would be willing to take a short-term deal and the Phillies may be interested.
The idea of Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Blake Snell at the top of the Phillies' rotation has Giglio excited.
"I could see them doing it and I'm in on the idea," Giglio said on Monday's 94WIP Midday Show. "I don't think he's a perfect pitcher...but he's won two Cy Youngs! His best is as good as anyone in baseball. Last year, he had a 2.25 ERA...This guy is dominant. I'm getting excited about the idea."
Snell, 31, was with the Tampa Bay Rays from 2016-2020 and then the San Diego Padres from 2021-2023.
For his career, Snell has a 3.20 ERA over 191 starts with a 1.235 WHIP and an 11.1 SO9.
