Bryce Harper was asked about his reaction when scoring the game-tying run on Tuesday night and all he could talk about was Bryson Stott, the man who knocked him in.
Harper believes Stott is on his way to becoming a star in Major League Baseball.
"I was more pumped for Bryson. That kid is such a baller out there it's so much fun to watch. I know he's one of my best friends, but I can't say enough about how he goes about it, the way he does it. At-bat by at-bat, situation by situation, doesn't matter where he is hitting in the lineup, what he's doing. It's just fun to watch. He's going to be a star, man. It's a lot of fun to see him do his thing. My friendness came out in that situation because I was just so fired up for him. Great teammate, great person and just really happy for him."
"I think I just kind of laugh it off," Stott said when asked about the Harper "star" comment. "He's one of my best friends, just kind of having the support for him. I do the same to him, I mean I know he's a superstar. Like he's learned first base. Just being out there every day for him through April and May and just kind of being there for each other has been huge."
Stott's two-out game-tying ninth inning hit on Tuesday night eventually led to an Alec Bohm walk-off single and a huge Phillies win, one they desperately needed after losing five of their previous six games.
Stott, 25, is in just his second MLB season. He's currently slashing .300/.343/.432 with 18 doubles, nine home runs, 37 RBI, and 19 stolen bases in 95 games. Stott's WAR (Wins Above Replacement) is currently 3.1.
