Dombrowski on Phillies' mindset after falling short 3 years in a row

Philadelphia Phillies president Dave Dombrowski spoke about the team trying to get over the hump and win a World Series this year after three straight postseason runs that fell short.

"Patience wears thin," Dombrowski said on Thursday's 94WIP Morning Show live in Clearwater. "In 2022, people were thrilled we were in the playoffs. In '23, to this day I mean it will be one of the more devastating playoff losses I've ever been around losing to Arizona being up 3 games to 2. Last year, I don't think we played very well coming into the postseason and the Mets played better than we did.

"And I don't think yelling and screaming in baseball does much good...Nobody is happy. Internally, we're not happy...Sometimes you change a lineup, maybe that changes. Maybe you end up getting a better 5th starter...maybe you get a young pitcher who comes up and performs for you, maybe at the middle of the year.

"And I will say last year, I felt bad. I thought that Austin Hays would really help us at the trade deadline. Nobody wants to hear it, I don't want to hear it, he got hurt and had a kidney infection that nobody would have ever anticipated."
