The Philadelphia Phillies have ended Dollar Dog Night at Citizens Bank Park after 27 years.
"That's a disgrace," Rhea Hughes said during her guest appearance on Thursday's 94WIP Midday Show with Hugh Douglas and Joe Giglio. "They've killed off Dollar Dog Night. You can't kill off Dollar Dog Night. It's sad, isn't it?
"I really look forward Matt Gelb's hot dog tracker, on Twitter, when he tells me how many hot dogs have been consumed."
The Phillies announced on Thursday that instead of Dollar Dog Night they will have two BOGO (buy one, get one) hot dog nights in April, where you can purchase two hot dogs for five dollars.
"I also wonder maybe the don't feel like they need it anymore," Giglio said. "I mean, the Phillies are a hot ticket now."
The main reason for the change appears to be fans throwing the hot dogs last season.
"The unfortunate incidents last year of the throwing of the hot dogs plus the feedback from our fans postgame survey, the fans told us that it was time for a change," said Phillies senior vice president of ticket operations and projects John Weber via The Philadelphia Inquirer.
"What the hell are we doing?" 94WIP Midday Show producer Kyle Quinn asked. "They're hot dogs. I'm not as mad at the Phillies for putting an end to it, it's the idiots that caused them to have to make this decision. What are you doing?"
"Who is buying hot dogs and throwing them away?" Douglas said. "I don't know how y'all feel about that, but that's a dollar."
