Giglio would 'dump Turner just for seat at Soto table'

Joe Giglio says he would "dump Trea Turner just for a seat" at the Juan Soto free-agency table.

"My theory is they're tapped out of money for this type of player," Giglio said on Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show. "I don't think the Phillies have the money, or at least they don't want to spend the money, to go into the Juan Soto sweepstakes.

"I want to help the Phillies out. I think Juan Soto is too special of a player to sit this out. It just doesn't sit well with me that all these teams have a meeting so far and the Phillies don't. The Phillies are trying to win the World Series, he's the best player available and it's like they're not really in this.

"If I were the Phillies today, I would be on the phone with every team that has a big market payroll and I would say, 'You could have Trea Turner.' I would dump Trea Turner today just for a seat at the table with Juan Soto...I don't know if he's coming here...but I do know the Phillies should get a seat at the table and if money is the issue I've got a very simple solution, I would dump Trea Turner today."

Turner, 31, has nine years and more than $245 million remaining on his contract ($27,272,727 per season) with the Phillies.

At 10:58am, Jon Heyman reported the Phillies are planning to meet with Soto.
