A truly magical season comes to end with a sour taste in all of our mouths, as the Phillies lost Game 7 of the NLCS to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night 4-2.
After blowing Game 4 in Arizona, the Phillies managed to win Game 5 and return home to Citizens Bank Park with a 3-2 series lead, needing to just win one of their next two home games to advance to their second straight World Series.
But, somehow, that did not happen.
The big story was the Phillies leaving runners in scoring position all night, going 1-10 with runners in scoring position.
Both Trea Turner and Bryce Harper had at-bats in the 7th down two runs with two runners on, but both flied out.
Ranger Suarez allowed three earned runs and six hits in 4.2 innings.
Zack Wheeler pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, throwing 30 pitches.
Nick Castellanos went 0-4 with two strikeouts and went hitless in every NLCS at-bat except his first, when he homered. Castellanos finished the NLCS a combined 1-24 with 11 strikeouts.
