The Philadelphia Phillies are open to trading Nick Castellanos, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

"If they were to trade him, his trade value is not going to get any higher than it is currently," Ben Davis said on Thursday's 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie. "I think the ups and downs, those ebbs and flows, the Phillies—they want something maybe a little bit more reliable, more sustainable offensively so you don't go into those big lulls."
DeCamara then posed this question to Ritchie and James Seltzer: Do you view Castellanos as a core player?
"No, somehow I still don't because of the whiff percentage," Ritchie said.
"I think so," Seltzer disagreed. "I would say yes."
What could the Phillies get for Castellanos?
"I think if they were to do it, it would be for pitching without a doubt," Davis said. "A starter. I would think they would have to be very good. The problem is, there is not a lot of starting pitching out there."
“According to a source, the Phillies are open to the idea of trading Nick Castellanos, whose streaky ways and disappointing performance in the NLCS could result in an offseason change," Feinsand wrote early Thursday morning.
The news comes on the heels of team president Dave Dombrowski announcing that Bryce Harper will play first base moving forward and Kyle Schwarber will be the primary designated hitter, meaning Rhys Hoskins is all but gone.
Castellanos, 31, signed a five-year, $100 million contract with the Phillies in March of 2022.
In two seasons with the Phils, Casty is slashing .268/.308/.437 with 42 home runs and 168 RBIs, plus 315 strikeouts. He was named an All-Star last season after a scorching first half where he hit .301 with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs in 87 games.
