The Phillies are acquiring left-handed starting pitcher Jesús Luzardo from the Miami Marlins in exchange for shortstop Starlyn Caba and outfielder Emaarion Boyd, according to reports.
Luzardo, 27, pitched just 66.2 innings in 2024, but had an excellent 2023 campaign where he had a 3.58 ERA with 208 strikeouts and 55 walks in 178.2 innings.
Caba is the 4th ranked Phillies' prospect while Boyd is the 81st.
94WIP's Jack Fritz reacted to the trade in a video posted on his X.
"Can never have too much pitching," Fritz said, as the Phillies add Luzardo to a rotation that already consists of Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Ranger Suarez, and Cristopher Sanchez.
