Giglio: Phillies talking about winning World Series in February is 'refreshing'

The Philadelphia Phillies are openly discussing winning the World Series already in February and Joe Giglio loves it.

"The Phillies keep talking about winning the World Series," Giglio said on Thursday's 94WIP Midday Show. "I love that the Phillies are talking about this...The Phillies seem to me right now more focused on the ultimate prize than I've seen...since days of Howard, Rollins, and Utley."

"It bothers me how much they're talking about the World Series. It's February...why don't they talk about winning the division first...This is not brick-by-brick. They're talking about winning the final game of the season that's November, it's February."

"Because that's the goal," Hugh Douglas replied.

New Phillie Whit Merrifield talked about the mood of the clubhouse on a recent Spring Training TV broadcast.

Phillies owner John Middleton recently addressed the team and made it clear that he wants 'our f***ing trophy back," according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark.

The last two seasons the Phillies have gotten off to a slow start and Giglio believes this focus and discussion about winning the World Series will help them get off to a better start.

"I think it's the most refreshing thing we've had around here in awhile...I love this. I actually think it will push them into the regular season and they will get off to a better start and they will be a better team this year because they won't screw around."
