The reigning National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies are off to an atrocious start, losing three straight in Texas against the Rangers to start the 2023 season.
On Monday, the 94WIP Morning Show posed the simple question to the fan base: Are you concerned?
"Look I'm not saying it's panic time, far from it, far from it," Joe DeCamara said on Monday morning. "This isn't panic time. But I do hope everyone realizes the Phils are not a guaranteed post season roster. I hope the players realize it. They weren't even facing a great team. Obviously, the thing that stands out the most is their two best starting pitchers had two horrible performances and obviously that put them in a huge hole, and presumably that won't continue."
Hugh Douglas and Joe Giglio continued the conversation on the 94WIP Midday Show.
"That was a concerning weekend," Giglio said. "I don't think anyone in baseball pushes a panic button after three games, that's silly. It's April 3rd. But that was a concerning weekend. Number one, the defense wasn't good this weekend... The first two games [the pitching] was awful...
The Phils were outscored 29-11 over the three game weekend series, as the Rangers became just the seventh team since 1900 to score 10-plus runs in two consecutive games to start a season.
Over the last 25 years, the Phillies are just the second team to start 0-3 after reaching the World Series the previous season.
The Phillies begin a three-game series in New York against the Yankees tonight before returning home for their home opener on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds.
