Report: Phillies will not play against the Nationals on Thursday

The Philadelphia Phillies will not play their scheduled game against the Washington Nationals on Thursday night per Jim Salisbury.

The decision was made by Phillies players without opinion from the Nationals. It is unclear whether or not the game will be postponed or the Phillies will forfeit the contest.

The Phillies are not the only team to postpone their game on Thursday. Accroding to Jeff Passan, the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics will also sit out tonight. The Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays have been in talks for most of the day as well.

On Wednesday night, in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake, several MLB teams across the country decided to not take the field. The Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds were the first teams to agree not to play. The decision was made by the players just hours after the Bucks and the rest of the NBA decided against playing their slate of playoff games on Wednesday for the same reason.

The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres followed suit after, followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. Mookie Betts of the Dodgers told his teammates he was sitting out of the game and they backed him.
