Ritchie on Hoskins to Brewers: 'It hurts my heart'

Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie reacted to Tuesday night's news that long-time Philadelphia Phillie Rhys Hoskins has signed a two-year deal worth $34 million with the Milwaukee Brewers.

"It hurts my heart," Ritchie said on Wednesday morning. "He is stand up guy, always represented this team, I mean flawlessly...I'm not talking about the baseball. I'm not talking about defense. I'm talking about standing up and being the guy at the Children's Hospital and being the guy who has a sensitive and kind statement to make about something that is going on. He really is a great representative for whatever team he is on."

"You could see it coming from a mile away, but I will say as the clock ticked past Christmas, past New Year's, past mid January, it did make me wonder if there is a scenario where he would be back," DeCamara said. "But I'm sad. I also get it, from the standpoint that team speed and defense—which clearly they improved upon dramatically last year of the absence of Hoskins in the lineup or in the field, whatever you want to call it."

Hoskins, 30, was the 142nd overall selection of the Phillies in the 2014 MLB Draft and played all six of his MLB seasons in Philadelphia hitting 148 home runs, not including his six postseason homers in the team's incredible 2022 run to the World Series.

Hoskins missed the entire 2023 season after tearing his ACL in Spring Training.

This is the moment he will always be remembered for in Philadelphia.
