Bryce Harper had what many are calling the strangest at-bat of his career against Brewers left-handed reliever Hoby Milner on Wednesday night.
Phillies manager Rob Thomson was asked about the at-bat by 94WIP's Howard Eskin before Thursday's afternoon rubber match against Milwaukee.
"So, I asked [Harper] about it. So this is the second time he's faced [Miler]. And the first time he faced him, he couldn't really pick him up. So [Harper] was going to take a couple of pitches and try and find his release point. And then, it got to the point where [Milner] got behind in the count—[Harper] didn't really think [Milner] was going to throw him a strike until he got to 3-2 and then [Harper] was locked in, he just didn't pull the trigger."
"But don't you have to kind of be prepared somewhere with your at-bat and be locked and loaded and it didn't appear he was locked and loaded."
"Well, as I said early in the count he's trying to find his release point because he's really funky. So..."
Harper is expected to play first base before the August 1st trade deadline, but that has not happened yet. Thomson spoke about the plan for Harper at first base this week on the 94WIP Morning Show.
