The baseball world was rocked by the surprising news of former journeyman slugger Jeremy Giambi's untimely death on Wednesday night.

The 47-year-old former Royals, A's, Phillies and Red Sox utility man -- and younger brother of five-time All-Star Jason Giambi -- died at his family's home in southern California, according to multiple reports.
A cause of death had not been revealed by Thursday morning.
