With the Phillies still struggling, and the euphoria of last year's World Series run moving further into the rearview, the honeymoon with Rob Thomson could be ending.
A caller posed the question to the Morning Show crew: when is it time to think about making a change at manager, despite extending Thomson after he guided the Phils to a stunning pennant just a season ago?
"I'm certainly not ready to pull the trigger yet," Joe said. "But I have it in my mind for future weeks if things continue to spiral."
Jon is in a similar boat, continuing a wait-and-see approach with Thomson, while acknowledging that the clock is ticking, and if things don't change by summer, a change might be necessary.
"We have to wait. Once we get around Fourth of July, I think it's deciding time when you really have to dig in a little deeper on this," Jon said. "But I expect things will start to look better.
"Last year, we said Rob Thomson was the right guy because of the contrast compared to Joe Girardi…now, there is no contrast. It's a little too lackadaisical for my taste.
"We've got a month to decide."
