PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — NFL kicker and Philadelphia native Brandon McManus is being sued by two women who claim he sexually assaulted them during a charter flight to London last year. McManus’ attorney vehemently denied the allegations.
McManus, 33, who attended Temple University and North Penn High School, is currently with the Washington Commanders. He was a player for the Jacksonville Jaguars when the alleged incident happened.
The Jaguars were on their way to London for a regular-season game last September when two flight attendants alleged in the civil suit that McManus was rubbing up and grinding against them, according to a report from ESPN.
The women are also suing the Jaguars for allegedly not doing enough to supervise the kicker and create a safe environment for the staff serving the team. They are seeking a jury trial and more than $1 million in damages, according to ESPN.
McManus’ attorney called the allegations “absolutely fictitious and demonstrably false.”
“We intend to aggressively defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by showing what these claims truly are — an extortion attempt,” Brett R. Gallaway, of McLaughlin and Stern, said in a statement to the Associated Press.
“We’re aware of the complaint and we acknowledge the significance of the claims,” the Jaguars said in a statement. “As we continue to look into the matter, it bears emphasizing that we insist on an organization built by people who represent our community and game with the highest character and class."
The Commanders, in a statement, said they are taking “allegations of this nature seriously” and have spoken with McManus’ agent and the league office.
