Editor's Note: Every year, 94WIP host Rob Charry compiles his top annual moments in Philadelphia sports. Charry's Year in Review special will air multiple times on SportsRadio94WIP this week:
Friday, December 31st at 10pm
Saturday, January 1st at 2am
Saturday, January 1st at 6am
Sunday, January 2nd at 2am
Though no local team won a championship in 2021, there still were a plethora of memorable moments throughout the year.
The Phils opening their season with a sweep of the Braves, taking over first place in early August with a sweep of the Mets at a raucous Citizens Bank Park, the Eagles parting with their Super Bowl winning coach Doug Pederson, and former franchise quarterback Carson Wentz, beginning a new regime, and the Sixers saga with and without Ben Simmons.
The show will feature another tribute to Philadelphia and 94WIP icon, the late Big Daddy Graham, celebrate the life of coaching legend John Chaney, and acknowledge the newest Basketball Hall of Famer, Jay Wright. The 2021 Year in Review will take you through a tumultuous, yet fascinating year in the life of sports in Philadelphia, one that began with the Eagles upheaval, and is ending with another disappointment for the family and friends of the late Phils Wall of Famer Dick Allen. Oh, and Carli Lloyd, one of the greatest athletes to ever come from this area, retired.
The 2021 Year in Review captures all that was good and bad in Philadelphia sports, in a fast paced, fast moving two hour show, which runs a number of times during the holiday season.
