— Terrell Owens (@terrellowens) April 23, 2019Speaking on the Zach Gelb Show on CBS Sports Radio this weekend, McNabb said he believes if Carson Wentz doesn't get out of the second round in the next few years, the Eagles need to move on and draft another quarterback.
Johnson defended his quarterback Sunday night on 94WIP saying, "You would think the best quarterback in franchise history would try to build up a young man that looks up to him instead of always criticizing him, critiquing him and wishing he would fail so he could be the missing link and feel better himself. That is what I don't like."
Of course, Owens and McNabb had their differences while teammates in 2004 and 2005. The Eagles lost Super Bowl XXXIX and after the game Owens, who defied odds and played after fracturing his fibula on December 19th, said "wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl." That strained his relationship with McNabb and ultimately Owens was released.
Wentz has been the topic of much debate this offseason, especially around his health and his standing in the locker room among his teammates. Johnson came to Wentz's defense the first time around earlier this offseason, and by doing it again, is making it clear he still believes in the team's current franchise quarterback.
McNabb will join the 94WIP Marks & Reese Show on Tuesday, April 23rd at 3:30pm E.T.
