Get ready for Cole Hamels to the Phillies rumors, again.

According to Patrick Mooney of The Athletic, Cubs GM Theo Epstein could make major changes to a team that is just 16-19 since June 1st, despite sitting atop the NL Central at 47-43. One specific change mentioned by Mooney is, Epstein "hoping Cole Hamels gets healthy so he can get traded."
Cue the Phillies, who are also 47-43, and in desperate need of starting pitching. Philadelphia was already said to be in the starting pitching market and now, to make matters worse, starter Jake Arrieta has a bone spur in his right arm and could require surgery

As recently as May 24th, Hamels has talked openly about potentially finishing his career in Philly.

Hamels, 35, is currently on the IL with an oblique strain. Before getting injured, Hamels had been excellent going 6-3 in 17 starts with a 2.98 ERA, 3.0 WAR, and 3.58 FIP. Chicago picked up Hamels' $20 million option this winter and he is set to become an unrestricted free-agent after the season.
