Joe DeCamara was found NOT guilty on Thursday afternoon by judge Spike Eskin.
You can watch the entire trial here.
DeCamara was put on trial of allegedly welching on a bet during his time at Phillies Phantasy Camp.
DeCamara made a bet on the air before he went to Phillies Phantasy Camp saying he would get at least:
a. either five hits (with one of the hits being an extra base hit)
b. at least six hits (all singles).
If DeCamara won the bet, the Phillies would allow Midday Show and 10 listeners on the field for batting practice before a Phillies game.
If DeCamara lost the bet, he had to get his legs and feet waxed live on the air.
DeCamara got four hits, losing the bet. But not so fast. DeCamara claimed that because the games were six innings long rather than the seven innings he was expecting he did not have as many at-bats as he expected, voiding the bet.
Mickey Morandini and John Brazer were the lawyers for the prosecution, while Milt Thompson was the lawyer for the defense.
Although DeCamara was found not guilty, the Phillies will allow Jon Ritchie, James Seltzer, and 10 listeners on the field for BP. DeCamara is not allowed to attend.
