The city has a thriving music scene and Hip Hop is the sound best associated with Atlanta. The artists that claim the city as home is an all-star list of who's who in the genre. But there's another genre that Atlanta is well known for, Gospel music. RADIO.COM's Larry Tinsley, host of Early Morning Praise with Larry Tinsley on V-103 in Atlanta is here with a list of 5 all-star Gospel artists to celebrate for All-Star Weekend in Atlanta.
1.Kirk Franklin
Kirk Franklin is the most popular Gospel artist of our time and has been a consistent hitmaker for 28 years He has won numerous GRAMMYs, Dove and Stellar Awards and has sold millions of albums. His concerts are sell-outs and he not only writes hits for himself, but for other artist as well like God's Property's million-seller called "Stomp," "Take Me To The King" for Tamela Mann and "Something About The Name Jesus" for Rance Allen.
2.Tasha Cobbs Leonard
Tasha Cobbs Leonard is one of America's premiere Worship Leaders. Her first national release of "Break Every Chain" went gold. Her concerts are consistent sell-outs and her album sales are in the millions. Because of her success, Billboard Magazine named Tasha as the "Artist Of The Decade" for the years 2010 - 2020 and the "Artist of The Year" for 2020.
3.Fred Hammond
Fred Hammond has been a part of Gospel music for 35 years, and is one of the pioneers of Contemporary Gospel music. He has given us hit after hit over the years including "They That Wait," and "No Weapon" as a solo performer, and numerous hits with groups he formed called Commissioned and Radical For Christ. He is a multiple GRAMMY, Dove and Stellar Awards winner and has performed around the world with his "Festival of Praise" and "Commissioned Reunion" tours.
4.Koryn Hawthorne
Koryn Hawthorne burst on to the Gospel music scene after her spectacular appearances on "The Voice." Her first CD called "Unstoppable" went Gold and the single "Won't He Do It" crossed over to the R&B stations and propelled her into the Gospel music stratosphere. Her performances on Kirk Franklin's "Long Live Love Tour" introduced her to the nation as an outstanding concert performer. The sky is the limit for Koryn as she not only performs songs that are gospel flavored, but are also played on secular stations qualifying her as a Gospel music All-Star.
5.CeCe Winans
CeCe Winans is Gospel Music Royalty. She hails from the legendary Winans family that gave us the Winans and as a duo, BeBe and CeCe Winans. CeCe has sold more albums than any other female Gospel performer and she has won 12 GRAMMYs, 23 Dove Awards, and 7 Stellar Awards. She has appeared in movies, television shows, and she and her husband Alvin Love II serve as Co-Pastors of Nashville Life Church in Nashville.
