Sarah Francis Jones and her partner Marcel Spears were vibing to Bey's performance of "ENERGY," even participating in the viral mute challenge before things went left. “Everybody went mute. L.A. did very well … and then I started having contractions," Jones said.
Knowing that their daughter wasn't expected to come for a few more days, the pair assumed the contractions were Braxton Hicks, also known as false labor pains.
Noticing that things felt different, she said “usually I like to dance at the concert and I was like ‘OK, I need to sit down for a second.'” Spears who also thought she was experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions, tried to assure her that it was early for her to be going into labor and that the pain would pass. After awhile he began timing the contractions, realizing that they were 20-30 minutes apart.
“As the concert went on we were like ‘I don’t know about this.’ By the time we got to the car, into the parking lot, it was full-on intense,” he shared.
Making it to the hospital, the couple gave birth to their baby girl, Nola, named after her father's hometown -- New Orleans. Nola almost shared a birthday with Queen Bey, but nearly missed it by a few hours and was born September 5.
The pair documented the journey from Bey's concert to the delivery room and uploaded it on social media. They felt like “if we didn’t record it, I don’t think anybody would believe it.” Spears continued, “it’s just one of those things that it’s so convenient you’re like ‘Nah that’s not happening,’ but the baby definitely pulled through.”
