Despite having two fourth-quarter leads, the Houston Texans dropped their season opener to the Buffalo Bills, 36-31.
Josh Allen found Joshua Palmer for the game-winning 34-yard touchdown with 1:41 to go in the game. It was Palmer's lone reception in the game, but it proved costly for Houston. On the previous pay, with the Texans leading 31-30, Kamari Lassiter had a chance to secure the win for Houston. But he dropped a potential interception from Allen.
Palmer scored on the next play and it decided the game.
Texans first-year running back David Montgomery scored three touchdowns in his debut for Houston, including two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown.
C.J. Stroud was 26-of-38 for 274 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was also sacked three times and lost two fumbles. The Texans' defense did not turn the Bills over at all in this game.
