DeMarcus Cousins has been diagnosed with a torn left quad, the Warriors announced on Tuesday afternoon. The center, who had an MRI to confirm the tear, will be out indefinitelty.

The news was first reported Shams Charania. Here's what Shams had to say, via his Twitter account, earlier in the day:

"This is probably season-ending for Cousins, but he and the team will see how he responds within the first two weeks of rehab that is not expected to require surgery, sources said."

Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated offered a bit of context on just how serious a quad injury can be:

Hornets guard Tony Parker tore his quad muscle and returned in eight months. Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins’ camp is holding out hope for a much faster prognosis if he responds well to treatment.
