Business is booming at Chase Center, future home of the back-to-back champion Warriors.
Welts revealed hat figure in an appearance on the Bloomberg Business of Sports podcast.
“The perfect market, perfect time — the Bay Area is on fire,” Welts said. “Couldn’t be a better economic time. Couldn’t be a better basketball team.”
That $2 billion figure is a staggering sum, especially considering that Welts estimated that Chase Center — even though it’s running 30 percent over budget — will cost $1.3 billion to build.
In addition to JPMorgan Chase & Co., United Airlines, PepsiCo, Accenture and Google Cloud will also be sponsors for the new arena.
