July 8, 2019 Spellman was selected by the Hawks with the 30th overall pick in the 2018 Draft.
In his rookie season, he appeared in 46 games (11 of those games he started) and averaged 5.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
He has said in the past that he tries to mimic his game after Draymond Green.
