Warriors sign Bob Myers and Rick Welts to multi-year deals

With free agency looming on Sunday, the Warriors have inked Bob Myers and Rick Welts, the club’s top two execs, to multi-year deals.

The news was announced on Friday morning, Marc Stein of The New York Times had the scoop.

Myers is the Warriors’ president of basketball ops/GM. Welts is president and COO, aka the chief of all things business. 

“We feel that Rick and Bob are two of the best leaders in professional sports and, quite honestly, in any line of business,” said Warriors Co-Chairman and CEO Joe Lacob in a statement.

“Their vision, creativity and humility are characteristics that have enabled the Warriors, and them personally, to accomplish terrific heights in this business. These extensions reflect those achievements. We’re extremely grateful for their contributions and are proud that they will continue to lead our organization as we move into Chase Center.”

Welts, with over 30 years of league experience, is a Basketball Hall of Famer. Myers, who just completed his eighth season with Golden State, is a two-time NBA Executive of The Year.
