After reports emerged that DeMarcus Cousins is aiming to make his Warriors’ debut on Jan. 18 when the club visits the Clippers, his teammates weighed in on the impending addition of the four-time all-star.
“It’s exciting,” Klay Thompson told reporters after dropping 43 points, on just four dribbles, in the 122-95 dismantling of the Knicks on Tuesday night. “I know our fan base is excited, the NBA is excited.”
Head coach Steve Kerr indicated that the introduction of Cousins could potentially come before that trip to Los Angeles.
DeMarcus Cousins' return could be as early as Pelicans-Warriors on Jan 16 at Oracle, per coach Steve Kerr. Also could Jan 18 at Clippers or Jan 21 at Lakers.
— Monte Poole (@MontePooleNBCS) January 9, 2019Fellow Splash Brother Stephen Curry knows there is bound to be an adjustment period when Boogie officially enters the mix.
“His first couple games, who knows how it will go?” Curry said. “But with the collective IQ we have in our locker room and understanding the unselfishness around what we do, we’ll be able to figure it out quickly.”
Thompson echoed that sentiment, as the Warriors could be badly use another big, especially one of Cousins caliber.
“I can’t wait to integrate him into our team,” Thompson said. “He adds a whole new dimension, especially on the block. He’s such a handful down there, and with his ability to play-make. So excited to get DeMarcus back.”
