Kyle Shanahan is bullish on the addition of Jordan Reed, the former Pro Bowl tight end, who the 49ers grabbed on a one-year deal on Monday.
"I know he's hungry to play football and he hasn’t got to do much of that lately," Shanahan said of Reed, whose promising career has been derailed by concussions.
"I know he hasn’t been on the field for a little bit," Shanahan added. "Very hungry to get back out there. When you have a talented guy who’s hungry to play football it works out if they can stay healthy... I hope he has some good luck here, and, if he does, I think its gonna be a hell of a deal for the Niners and a really good deal for him also."
ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the news of the signing of Reed, 30, to an incentive-laden pact. The deal reunites Shanahan and Reed who worked together in Washington.
