Klay Thompson won't be taking part in Game 3 of the Finals, the team announced just minutes before tip-off on Wednesday night.

With Game 3 rapidly approaching, the Klay Thompson situation had remained unresolved. During the customary pregame press conference, head coach Steve Kerr called Thompson a "gametime decision."


Earlier in the afternoon, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne dished the latest on the hamstrung Splash Brother.

Reporting with @ramonashelburne: Golden State officials prefer Klay Thompson sit out Game 3 to protect his sore hamstring for the rest of NBA Finals, but Thompson has continued to lobby them on playing tonight. Decision looms prior to tip.

Thompson, who's dealing with a mild hamstring strain, sustained the injury on Sunday night in the fourth quarter of Game 2. Shaun Livingston started in Thompson's place.
