The day after Rich Kleiman, Kevin Durant’s manager,
said the back-to-back Finals MVP “really doesn’t know” where he’ll be playing next season,
Marc Stein of the New York Times has weighed in on the topic.
According to Stein, the Clippers, run by Jerry West, the ex-Warriors eminence grise, are very much in the KD game.
“Within the last month, very smart and plugged-in people I have consulted say that the Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as an equally dangerous threat to the Knicks to sign Durant away from Golden State. And I believe it."

May 22, 2019 "Problem is, at various points during the season, I have heard trusted insiders state with conviction that Durant is already planning to join the Knicks … and then that he is likely to consider the Nets as well … and now that he is eyeing the Clippers just as intently as New York.”
Kendrick Perkins, Durant's friend and old teammate, also linked the Warrior to the Clippers, in particular head coach Doc Rivers. Here's what Perkins said on FS1's "Fair Game with Kristine Leahy."
"Everybody keeps screaming New York," Perkins said. "Do not be surprised if KD sign and go play for Doc. ... He likes the organization. He likes Doc Rivers. He love Doc Rivers. But me and KD don't talk about it. He just happened to throw that out there."

May 22, 2019 Stein also has an update, of sorts, on Durant’s calf injury, in the wake of Joe Lacob, seemingly off the cuff, proclaiming that the forward will be back for the Finals. Stein reports that it’s “unclear” when Durant or DeMarcus Cousins will be back on the floor.
The next official injury update come Thursday.
