The 49ers officially announced the move later on Tuesday afternoon.

"Emmanuel is a passionate football player whose toughness and competitive nature have helped him become a dynamic playmaker in this league,” 49ers general manager John Lynch said in a statement. “He possesses a number of qualities, on and off the field, that we value in our players. His familiarity in a similar offensive system will allow for a quick transition. We are excited to add Emmanuel to our roster and look forward to seeing him positively impact our team.”

Troy Renck of Denver 7 ABC caught up with Sanders as the veteran made his way out of the Broncos' facility.

Sanders was not the first reciever the club tarrgeted.

The #49ers were in on Mohamed Sanu before he went to the #Patriots. They chose Emmanuel Sanders from the #Broncos, with Sanders getting a new home with a team with a shot at the playoffs.

Sanders, 32, has 30 catches for 367 yards in seven games. Those numbers are better than those of any 49ers recievers. Only tight end George Kittle, 34 receptions and 376 yards, outranks Sanders in those departments.
