On the day that Tom Brady posted on Instagram, officially sealing his move to the Buccaneers, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller has the story on the alleged details of what set the quarterback’s New England exit in motion.
In short, Bill Belichick badly bruised Brady’s ego with a trade proposal that never materialized.
Back in Oct. 2017, before the Pats shipped Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers, Belichick first offered Brady to the Niners.
Team owner Robert Kraft kiboshed the swap, per Miller’s reporting
"Kraft shut that s--- down fast," said a source close to Belichick. "So, instead, Lynch gets Garoppolo, but Brady, Belichick and Kraft haven't been the same since Tom learned that Bill was ready to get rid of him. And that lit a fire under his ass."
In some alternate football universe, Brady’s a 49er, Jimmy’s a Pat and who the hell knows who’s a Buc. In this football universe, Brady is, very much, and, very surprisingly, a Buccaneer.
