Kyle Shanahan provided the latest update on wide receiver Jalen Hurd (back tightness) before Wednesday’s practice and the update was far from ideal.
“Most likely not going to play this week (against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers),” Shanahan explained. “Haven’t ruled him out yet. But, if I had to say something today, he’s doubtful.”
Hurd, a 3rd-round pick in the spring, hasn’t been on the field in more than two weeks, dating back to joint practices with the Denver Broncos. He missed the final two games of the preseason. Shanahan left open the possibility that Hurd could miss more than the opener.
“I’m thinking it’s more week-to-week as opposed to day-to-day.”
