Jerick McKinnon’s future with the 49ers got significantly murkier on Friday morning, as reported by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
Here are all the details on the running back, who’s surgically repaired knee continues is expected to put him on injured reserve:
The distinction between season-ending IR and designated to return is large. If McKinnon is designated to return, he would have to be placed on the initial 53-man roster and would miss at least the first eight games. The 49ers must clip the roster from 90 to 53 by 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
