John Lynch, 49ers GM, called into 95.7 The Game in Thursday morning and underscored the point that George Kittle, the star tight end and free-agent-to-be at season's end, is going to be a Niner for the long haul.
"We made an attempt at it early," Lynch told Joe, Lo and Dibs, before praising Kittle as integral to the organization.
"So we're very interested," the GM continued. "George isn't going anywhere. We're going to work hard to try to get it done. I think they've got motivation just to really reset the tight end market, as do we, for him. It's just finding that sweet spot, where that is."
Kittle, is set to enter the final season of his four-year, $2.7 million rookie deal."Like I said, he's not going to go anywhere," Lynch reiterated. "When that happens? I don't know. But we're working hard, as are they, to try to make that happen. George is going to be a part of the 49ers for a long, long time."
