Derek Holland, the recently DFA'd left-handed pitcher, is now a Cub. The Giants, Holland's erstwhile employer, announced the news via their Twitter account on Friday morning:

July 26, 2019 Holland, who was lugging around a 5.90 ERA in 31 outings (including seven starts), makes $6.5 million this year. He's owed a $7 million team option in 2020 with a $500,000 buyout.
After the Giants axed the eccentric veteran on Sunday, Holland posted an extensive thank you note on Instagram, wishing his best to everyone, aside from the front office:

July 22, 2019 The omission is noteworthy in light of the fact that Holland blasted the president of baseball ops Farhan Zaidi and Co. for putting him on the injured list with a "fake injury" back in May after he was demoted to the bullpen.
