Add another name to the reported list of candidates in the running to succeed three-time World Series champion Bruce Bochy.

Gabe Kapler immediately becomes a strong candidate for the #SFGiants managerial opening. He and Farhan Zaidi had a strong relationship with the #Dodgers together.

Before landing with the Phillies for the 2018 season, Kapler served as the Director of Player Development for the Dodgers, under then GM Farhan Zaidi.

Kapler, who had been toiling in purgatory sine the end of disappointing regular season for the Phillies, was dismissed by the club on Thursday morning. The Phillies, who scooped up Bryce Harper on the eve of the 2019 campaign, missed out on the playoffs in both of Kapler’s season at the helm.

There are now eight major league clubs in the market for a new dugout boss. The Giants have previously been linked to in-house candidates Hensley Meulens and Ron Wotus and A’s coach Mark Kotsay.
