Former San Francisco Giants reliever Sam Dyson, most recently of the Twins and now a free agent, has been accused of some serious (and heinous) crimes, as alleged by a Tuesday morning
Instagram post. MLB is
reportedly investigating the pitcher, per Ken Rosenthal and Katie Strang of The Athletic, in the wake of this news.
The post, penned by Dyson’s girlfriend, Alexis, details purported abuse allegations against both herself and the couple’s cat,
Snuckles, who is something of a baseball internet celebrity.
The allegations are extremely troubling. That first picture is absolutely heartbreaking:

November 26, 2019 “This is about safety at this point. Mom took me to grandmas for good because unlike my previous “safe space,” GRANDMAS is a safe space. I don’t have to worry about getting hurt because of anger or control. I don’t have to be scared of yelling and things being hurled at mom and me. I don’t have to be scared anymore.”
The issue of domestic violence continues to be a significant problem across MLB, including at Dyson’s old employer, the Giants.
President/CEO Larry Baer was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife,
caught on camera, last March. Earlier this month, amid a hail of criticism, the Giants hired manager Gabe Kapler, who, while with the Dodgers,
failed to alert police about the assault of a 17-year-old girl, involving a pair of Los Angeles minor leaguers.
The Giants traded Dyson to the Twins on July 31. The right-hander elected free agency on Oct. 31.
