LaVar Ball thinks he knows why President Donald Trump lost his re-election campaign to Joe Biden – it’s because he dissed Big Baller Brand.
The outspoken father, whose youngest son LaMelo will be among the top picks in Wednesday’s NBA Draft, has some previous history with the commander-in-chief and was asked about his current feelings on Trump during an appearance on the “Endless Hustle” podcast this week.
“If he woulda never act a fool, he’d still be president,” LaVar said. “I woulda been there with him, I woulda helped him out. You wanna act crazy with the Big Baller, guess what happens? Anybody real crazy with me don’t last long. … anyone messed with Big Ballers in the long run, its not gonna work out for you. If Trump woulda accepted my shoes and not actin’ a fool, he would still be president. Now he gotta go. Oh well.”
The beef between LaVar and Trump stems back to 2017 when his middle son, Liangelo, and two other UCLA players were arrested in China for shoplifting.
Trump has expressed displeasure with LaVar, who has refused to thank the president for his role in freeing his son --- although the extent of Trump’s role is unclear and reports say he did not intervene until after an agreement between UCLA officials and Chineese authorities was already reached.
LaVar has maintained Trump did not play a role in releasing his son while Trump has likened LaVar to “Don King without the hair.”
When pressed if LaVar really felt as if his feud with Trump could have really swayed the election, the answer was an obvious “of course!”
"Yes! If he never did that to Big Baller I would have been like ‘Trump’s our guy, let’s roll!’” LaVar said. “Everybody would’ve been like ‘we’re voting, let’s go.’”
LaVar also seemed to suggest Trump called him for help two days ago – a claim we cannot confirm as fact.
“I’m not accepting his call,” LaVar said. “When he’s down on his luck he wanna call a Big Baller and get back some love. I told him to call Lil’ Wayne or one of them rappers or something.”
