Following an impactful 10-year career with the Golden State Warriors, Xavier George, an integral part of the organization’s IT Department, will retire at the end of this week. One of Xavier’s co-workers, Brian Fulmer, shares his thoughts on Xavier in this Open Letter:
Dear Xavier,
As I think about how to best celebrate your incredible career, it’s hard not to reflect on the many ways you’ve shaped our team and organization. After a decade of dedicated service to the Golden State Warriors, your retirement marks the end of an era—and it’s a bittersweet moment for all of us.
You’ve been more than an IT professional; you’ve been committed to excellence, a team player, and a trusted go-getter. I’ll never forget the first time we met nearly 10 years ago. You were a contractor, fulfilling what was supposed to be a simple three-month assignment. Within weeks, it became clear that your technical abilities and work ethic were something special. I knew one thing for certain: you were a keeper. It’s not widely known, but you were my first hire at the Warriors. This is something that I’ll always remember and will cherish forever.
Your career stats over the years are nothing short of legendary:
Over 5,300 helpdesk tickets resolved: Each one handled with professionalism and care.760+ individuals assisted: From execs to part-timers, and arena staff, you’ve helped us all.281 new laptops configured: That’s over a half million dollars’ worth of computers!Onboarded 143 new staff members: You helped so many colleagues on their very first day get logged in and connected.Four (4) Golden State Warriors Championships: Walking in the parades and celebrating with colleagues, friends, family, and our community. One (1) groundbreaking accolade: The first IT team member to earn the Employee of the Quarter award—a testament to your excellence. But numbers alone can’t capture the full impact you’ve had. Beyond the stats, you’ve been a steady hand during times of change, and an important part of our family. I’ll always admire the way you approach challenges—with confidence, and your desire to see things through.
As you transition into this exciting new chapter, know that your contributions have left a lasting mark on all of us. You’ve been a cornerstone of our team, Xavier, and we’ll miss you more than words can express..
On behalf of the entire organization, thank you for everything. Thank you for your kindness, your loyalty, and your tireless dedication to making the Warriors experience the best it can be.
Here’s to a well-earned retirement, filled with family, friends, and the kind of relaxation that doesn’t require configuring laptops or troubleshooting Wi-Fi connectivity. (Unless, of course, your family starts submitting helpdesk tickets—then all bets are off.)
All the best,
Brian Fulmer
