With kickoff for Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks just days away, the Bay Area is already buzzing with celebration. Much of the excitement centers on Radio Row at Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco, a signature tradition for local and national media gearing up for a week of Super Bowl coverage.
95.7 The Game is one of several stations on site with wall-to-wall remote coverage, bringing in special guests, Big Game predictions, and live programming from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here’s how the first day of coverage went:
Giannis Trade Imminent?
The Golden State Warriors’ reported pursuit of Milwaukee Bucks’ star Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently the talk of Bay Area sports. The storylines are endless — It ultimately comes down to whether Golden State can offer enough to spark the Bucks’ interest, or if Milwaukee opts to stay put and wait for the offseason.
The Athletic’s Golden State Warriors beat writer Nick Friedell was less optimistic about a deal being completed before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline when he joined the Morning Roast with Joe Spadoni and Joe Shasky on Monday.
“I’d be surprised if it went down before Thursday with Giannis,” Friedell said.
But what if the Warriors push all their eggs in this singular Giannis-stacked basket and fall short? What type of image would that portray upon the current state of the Warriors organization?
“It would mean that even though they have every draft pick under the sun to dangle, the Bucks didn’t like the Warriors’ players enough,” said Matt Steinmetz on Steiny and Guru on Monday.
As the market for Antetokounmpo progresses, four teams are described as having the most interest in the two-time MVP winner — the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Warriors, according to ESPN.
The Bucks are losers of five straight and plummeted to an underwhelming 12th in the Eastern Conference. For Golden State, there’s a little more emphasis on being competitive with a 27-23 record — eighth in the Western Conference. Plus, the organization’s evergreen push to keep building around Stephen Curry continues to make them an attractive destination for prospective players.
“If you're asking Giannis, 'Where can I go win?' Golden State's pretty high on the list,” said Mark Willard on Willard and Dibs. “What is the path to actual competition at a high level for Giannis? I think he may think that Steph is either his best answer or damn close."
Draymond Speculation
Could Draymond Green be on the trading block?
As Thursday’s deadline nears, the Warriors’ four-time champion finds himself in uncharted territory after long being seen as a player who would never wear another uniform.
Appearing on Willard and Dibs on Monday, head coach Steve Kerr confirmed he has been engaged in discussions with Green regarding the possibility.
“I think what's really tricky for Draymond is this is the only place he's ever known,” Kerr said. “He's going to have a statue outside the building someday. He’s never been through this and it’s definitely been on his mind.”
Kerr also addressed Stephen Curry’s status, noting the star guard remains day-to-day after departing Friday night’s 131–124 loss to the Detroit Pistons with right knee soreness.
The 49ers Bring In Raheem Morris as Defensive Coordinator
The San Francisco 49ers had massive shoes to fill when Robert Saleh accepted an offer to become the next head coach for the Tennessee Titans, and it appears they’ve found their next leader of the defense.
Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris will become the team’s new defensive coordinator, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport.
After being fired following a second-straight 8-9 finish in Atlanta, Morris, 49, will be tasked with rebuilding a defense that struggled mightily this past season in plenty thanks to substantial injuries to defensive end Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner.
Mychel Williams, a 2025 draftee who was expected to contribute heavily in his rookie season, also suffered a season-ending injury in Week 9.
The Giants Ink Luis Arraez to 1-Year Deal
The San Francisco Giants and three-time batting champion Luis Arraez are reportedly in agreement on a one-year, $12 million deal, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic.
Arraez, 28, is widely regarded as baseball’s best contact hitter — his 6.1% strikeout rate is the lowest among big league hitters with at least 3,500 plate appearances since 2019. He doesn’t provide much power or speed, but Arraez’s lifetime .777 OPS will certainly lengthen and balance the Giants’ lineup.
San Francisco is expecting to use him as their every day second baseman, an eye-brown raise considering the San Diego Padres moved him off the position due to his rapidly declining value as a middle infielder. Since 2023, his -20 outs above average at second base has been MLB’s worst. He’s mostly been a first baseman the last few years, but he hasn’t rated all that better there either.
