Brett Favre critical of Deshaun Watson: 'We make too much money to voice an opinion'

NFL legend Brett Favre has offered up a confused and polarizing take on the Deshaun Watson saga.

The Hall of Famer said during a recent interview with Yahoo Sports that he disagreed with Watson's reported request for a trade out of Houston amid a falling out with team brass.

Favre bizarrely suggested Watson should keep his thoughts to himself -- only to apparently contradict himself, adding "I'm not saying he's wrong."

"You get paid a ton of money to do a certain job, and just do it, and let the chips fall where they may," Favre said. "I think we make too much money to voice an opinion, but I'm not saying he's wrong."

Favre, speaking with Yahoo Sportsbook host Minty Bets, recounted a number of high-profile quarterbacks who forced trades or steered their destiny through the draft -- then conceded "it's maybe a different time and day" from when he played.

"It'll be interesting to see how the organization handles it," Favre added.

The half-baked analysis didn't sit well with Watson's agent.

"Brett should probably stop throwing stones from that glass house he’s sitting in," David Mulugheta said on Twitter.

Cowboys great Dez Bryant said was "no longer a fan" of Favre's.

Others lambasted Favre for his own seeming hypocrisy, given the intrigue surrounding his fate with the Packers, his departures to the Jets and Vikings, and his long-rumored retirement that played out for several years before he finally called it a career.

The antagonistic comments are the latest in a series of strange and unflattering headlines for Favre, who came under criticism last year for golfing with former President Trump, and for endorsing him for reelection. He also was made to return embezzled welfare funds from the state of Mississippi, and baselessly claimed TV ratings were down for sports because of the activism of athletes.
