As Warriors coach Steve Kerr said earlier this year, Jordan Poole can be a “lightning rod” of conversation.
The past couple of days on 95.7 The Game, Poole has been a hot topic of discussion. After securing a four-year, $123 million contract extension last offseason, Poole set a career high in points per game (20.4) but he was inconsistent and didn’t take a noticeable step forward on defense. But most of the conversation now centers around Draymond Green’s punch of Poole and how it affected team chemistry.
95.7 The Game’s Mark Willard took it a step further Tuesday with this statement on “Willard & Dibs.”
Bonta Hill of “The Morning Roast” was off the clock, but he had to call into the station to make his voice heard on the situation.
Since “Steiny & Guru” didn’t want to be left out of the conversation, Matt Steinmetz also offered up a take on Poole's mentorship from Andre Iguodala.
See? Poole is a lightning rod.
By the total numbers, nobody on the Warriors played more games (82), played more minutes (2,458) and scored more points (1,675) than Poole during the 2022-23 regular season. Then again, he shot just 33.6 percent from 3-point land and vanished in the playoffs.
Beyond his on-court production, the 23-year-old’s attitude will be under the microscope going forward.
