Anthony Slater explains why Warriors might have steal in Lindy Waters

Tuesday night was one of those games where the Warriors could have lost, and maybe lost badly, and no one would have been completely shocked. They fell into a 20-point hole in the first quarter, and that's where it seemed like it was headed.

Instead, they responded. Buddy Hield, in a mini slump, snapped right out of it and finished with 28 points on 7-of-11 from deep. But the real story was Lindy Waters III, who, off the bench, dropped 21 points with 8 rebounds and 4 assist on 3-of-7 shooting from deep. He had a game-high +26.

Maybe it was just a rare good night from him, but it seemed like more. Anthony Slater joined the Morning Roast to discuss Waters and how the Warriors got him for the 52nd pick in the draft.

"Sam Presti found him, and that's a factory in Oklahoma City, and they developed him, and obviously it's through his hard work," Slater said. "I'm around the Thunder some. I know plenty of people within the Thunder. They love him. They've been saying all summer — like they've been the ones like he could help, get him on the floor. They didn't want to give him up. The problem is they just have so many players slash, like, first-round future picks, like, there just wasn't necessarily room for him."

So the Warriors acquired him and seem to have found a perfect system fit. Slater highlighted his size a weapon coupled with his shooting.

"He's a good player," Slater said. "Steve Kerr loves him. Steve Kerr had a long conversation with Mark Daigneault this summer, the Thunder coach and Mark Daigneault voiced to him how much he's gonna love him. I know Thunder people were saying the entire time they thought he fit the Warriors' system. I mean, you can already see that the movement, the cutting, everything that Steve Kerr likes."
