Steph and Ayesha Curry’s Valentine’s Day took an unexpected turn.

The couple spent the day watching movies, but when Ayesha went to open a bottle of champagne the next thing they knew, they were heading to the hospital.

The Golden State Warriors star’s wife shared on Instagram, via TMZ Sports, that she attempted to open the bottle when something went wrong and she sliced her hand open.

Ayesha needed to have four stitches sewn into her hand to close the wound.

“It’s important to know that I was not sabering a bottle of champagne when this happened to me,” she said in an Instagram video. “I was opening it the normal way.”

Sabering is the act of opening a champagne bottle by sliding a sword or blade across the bottle to pop the cork, which could sometimes get messy.

Ayesha shared an update on her Instagram in a selfie with Steph that the two were back to watching movies after having her hand stitched up in the hospital.
