Fitz filled in for longtime 95.7 The Game play-by-play voice Tim Roye for Game 5 and he’ll be back Thursday night. Fitz joined 95.7 The Game’s “Steiny & Guru” on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the pinch-hit Finals radio broadcast appearance.

“Unfortunately, Tim is a little under the weather,” Fitzgerald said. “So, Strength in Numbers, baby! They just grabbed an available broadcaster. So I’ll be sitting there, reunited with Jim Barnett actually for Game 6 on the radio. It’s kinda fun.”

Everyone at 95.7 The Game hopes Tim feels better soon. But it will be cool to hear Fitz and JB on the call together again, as they were longtime TV partners before Kelenna Azubuike took over a full-time color commentator role for NBC Sports Bay Area before the 2019-20 season.

Fitzgerald said he thinks the Warriors need to go out like a grand finale of a fireworks show.

“Warriors have to have a pyrotechnic 3-point shooting night,” Fitzgerald told hosts Matt Steinmetz and John Dickinson (filling in for Daryle “The Guru” Johnson). “When I see the Warriors 3-of-24 on threes, I’m just like, ‘C’mon, man.’ At some point, they’re gonna have a 15-16 made threes evening. I hope that’s tomorrow. Boston’s defense is great. No one disputes that. But Game 4 here, the Warriors missed 13 wide open threes with a defender within five feet. If Steph, Klay (Thompson), (Andrew) Wiggins, (Jordan) Poole starts launching threes and they’re going in, that could be the Warriors kinda riding that to victory.”
